A Day of Firsts

Grace had her first day of 4 year pre-school today.

She was so ready, didn't want her photo taken but still obliged, and once inside the classroom, didn't even blink when Aidan and I said goodbye.

Aidan on the other hand, made a beeline right for the 3 year old class, and started to play.  He cried when we left.  Poor guy isn't aware he has another year and a half before he can even think about joining in the fun.

But as our first morning of just he and I, I wanted to do something special for him.  Aidan loves to be outside, and he loves the water, so I drove us down to a local park near the river.

We spent a good hour there, saying hello to every puppy we came across (he was particularly smitten with a pair of Beagles), swang on swings and went down slides.

This week will be an adjustment getting used to so much time without Grace.  As many have said to me, I'm going to miss my little helper!

TODAY:  So far this afternoon we've made Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies (with 4 handfuls of chocolate chips courtesy of Miss G).  I'm also waiting for a call from the hospital with a surgery date from Grace.  Hard to wait for this not so patient Mama!
